Midfield Pattern Corp.
Midfield Pattern is an ISO9001:2008 certified supplier of CNC-produced patterns for the foundry industry molds for the thermoforming industry and prototype machined parts and machined (or raw) prototype castings for various engineering departments throughout the Midwest.
We extensively use CAD/CAM software (Solidworks and MasterCam) along with our 13-CNC vertical machining centers, to produce tooling and complex 5-axis parts and machining fixtures. We also perform reverse engineering services utilizing our Brown & Sharpe DCC CMM. We can either replicate the part, or create a 3D CAD model for customers to import into their CAD system.
Our "main" customer base encompasses Chicago, Minneapolis, Des Moines and St. Louis - although we have customers as far east as South Carolina and Georgia, and as far west as Arizona. Western Illinois University School of Engineering
WIU's School of Engineering is one of the newest ABET accredited engineering programs in the State of Illinois. We offer a multidisciplinary degree that allows students to build specialization on top of a fundamental core of subjects from Math, Science, Mechanics, Materials, Electronics, Robotics-Automation, Thermo-Fluids, Structures, Engineering Management, and Design.
In January 2017 we added a Mechanical Engineering degree and plan to add Civil and Electrical Engineering in the future although our general degree does a pretty good job with Civil and Electrical.
We also have a nearly full service machine shop, a maker space, and several 3D plastic printers. Our students do our design work and have helped companies and individuals in the Quad Cities region develop new ideas and prototypes. Our seniors routinely work on important projects for and in companies as part of their Senior Capstone Design projects.
